Relationship With God is Better Than Sacrifice
Our covenant of our yielding of our obedience to God in our relationship with Him or our union with God — a good affection to God — is more important than sacrifice. Our relationship with God which connects us to the knowledge of God as He reveals Himself to us is the most sought after behavioral relationship we should possess. One can give sacrifices to God and be spiritually, mentally detached from a relationship with God thinking that the ritual is all that has to be done. However, “The true God (aims) at nothing but that (we) should be good men (and women), and live good lives for (our) own good” (Matthew Henry Commentary). This we do when we yield of our obedience to God in our relationship with Him.
For I desire and delight in [steadfast] loyalty [faithfulness in the covenant relationship], rather than sacrifice, And in the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. Hosea 6:6 AMP (Amplified Bible)
