8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:8, 9 KJV
Sometimes it takes a while for a believer to come to a place of repentance. Repentance is when we are sorry for our bad leadership to others, and thus our being open to some sort of punishment. We must model a better turning of life for ourselves to others so as not to disgrace and disfavor our Lord as He has forgiven us all for our bad leadership.
We are to learn and to understand that “The Lord is not slack.” Being slack is being weak, slow or late which is of that of the slackness of the world.
But we come to learn as believers that on God’s timing in our lives for the many breakthroughs we experience, we also learn of “longsuffering to us-ward or His longsuffering of us yet as now our sins are forgiven by Christ’s death on the cross. Longsuffering is the enhancement of our strength and fortitude in Christ Jesus and His teachings so that we don’t perish.
The Lord’s “day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” so God’s timing for the promise for our lives may be lifelong or short-lived as we seek Him. He gives us the promise, our expectance for ourselvesk and others, in His own timing which is at the right timing of His discernment for and in our lives.
No “The Lord is not slack,” he is not weak, slow or late, but in His blessed timing He has the unconditional love, strength, and power which He alone expresses to us, and gives to us as we seek Him for our promise, expectancy, blessings, our giving, and direction in our lives.
Praise be to God!
