5 Salmon was the father of Boaz by Rahab, Boaz was the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse. 6 Jesse was the father of David the king….16 Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born, who is called the Messiah (Christ). Matthew 1:5-6, 16 AMP (Amplified Bible)
Did Rahab because of her faith in God have “the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1b KJV)?
Rahab, the harlot, harlot being a prostitute or a promiscuous woman, turned her life around when she said in Joshua 2:10-11 KJV, “For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. 11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.”
Rahab believed and had faith in that “the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.”
There is scripture that states “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is. and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6 KJV).
Rahab was married to Salmon which led to the birth of David, the king, and later led to the birth of Jesus Christ. (Read Matthew 1:5-16 AMP).
How is it that a harlot, a prostitute, a promiscuous woman, a sinner, become the ancestor of Jesus?
I believe that in Rahab’s heart, she turned to a belief in God when hearing of the power of God. (Joshua 2:10-11 KJV). God did reward Rahab because of her courage with a husband, and a child. God did reward Rehab as being in the lineage of Christ. Rahab’s life was totally turned around from a harlot to a wife of one of the nation of Israel called Salmon. Her faith in God produced grace and favor in her life.
For all of us God calls us in some way to turn our lives, and to turn the lives of others around to obey His life of salvation and to experience His true love for all. I can’t begin to tell you how a wondrous series of events happen when you turn to God and live the life, “I am the way, the truth, and the life:” (John 14:6a KJV). He wants you to live, and to live for what He has destined for you in your life. Oh, what joy in my soul in how Jesus has overflowed my life with His grace and favor.
No turning back for me, and so it is with the Christian life! Hold fast onto “the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1b KJV).
