We are Children of God
As God’s children, we are heirs of God and joint-heirs of Christ, i.e., we are heirs of God “the supreme Divinity” (Strong’s Concordance) and heirs united with Christ as “heirs of the promise, heirs of righteousness, heirs of salvation, etc., by virtue of the death of Christ, (and) of God’s gracious promises” (Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary) together with Him. Paul asks the question, who is the one that can bring charges or who are those who attack them that “God has selected or designated to eternal life” (Noah Webster 1828 Dictionary)? “The devil, the accuser of the brethren, accusing them before our God day and night? This is enough to answer all those accusations” (Matthew Henry Commentary). These accusations are not justified or they are not proven to be just.

The Good Shepherd
Only Jesus, the Good Shepherd, knows who are His own brothers and sisters. An unfaithful shepherd working just for his wages does not protect his flock deserting them in the face of danger — The wealth of the world is the chief of their good” (Matthew Henry Commentary). The unfaithful shepherd “undertook the shepherds’ office, as a trade to live and grow rich by, not as an opportunity of serving Christ and doing good”
