6 So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. 7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 9 Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are. 10 In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. 11 All power to him forever! Amen. 1 Peter 5:6-11 NLT.
In this passage, in knowing that we as believers must humble ourselves or we are not to think of ourselves as greater than God or any man or woman, God will exalt us or He will lift us up in our humility, and He will exalt us “in due time.” (1). Thus He honors our humility by lifting us “up in honor” (2) as He enables us to have a “good name or (having) good esteem; a good (my italics) reputation.” (8).
We give our “anxiety” (3) to God, and we are not to take into account the negativity brought on by our adversary, the devil. We must be watchful with wisdom for the pitfalls that the devil will lay before us. As all believers are experiencing the devil’s task to rid us of our faith through doubt and fear, we must “be strong in (our) faith.” (4).
God calls us to our purpose to “share” (5) or “to partake of, use, experience, occupy, or enjoy with others” (8) in giving God the glory, our praises to God, “by the way of Christ Jesus.” (5).
In doing so, for “a little while” (5) , in God’s “due time” (1) after we have suffered like (my italics) Christ, Christ, like He did for Peter, “makes (us) perfect” (6) “perfect” meaning He restores us, supports us, and gives us strength (5) as He settles (6), lays the foundation (5), and grounds (8) us by faith in Christ, the good soil. (7).
