You will know that I am the Lord, O people of Israel, when I have honored my name by treating you mercifully in spite of your wickedness. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken! Ezekiel 20:44 NLT.
In the King James Version of Ezekiel 20:44, it says “And ye shall know that I am the Lord when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake…”
Wrought in the King James Version means bear, deal with, labour, work . Wrought also means to make, do, create.
God created us and we as a people have had our time of being sinful and rejecting or being away from God as we have come to our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5) of how our lives should be for ourselves and others. But because God loves us so deeply (John 3:16), and more than we love ourselves or others, He gives us mercy especially when we come to our senses (Luke 15:17) in knowing how God has worked with us as we are or were in our sin. We truly know just how loving and merciful God is when we see how He gives us every opportunity to follow His teachings on the narrow path which are only for our good (Luke 11:9-13).
I love God because He is so merciful in my imperfect self who makes mistakes in my thinking and treatment of myself and others at times. In His mercy, He leads and guides us toward the right attitude we should have towards ourselves and others as it is written in His word.
Oh that we would fully embrace God’s mercy as He works with us.
