8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55: 8-9 KJV.
Here God tells us that His “thoughts” or His purpose (1) for us is not as our own individual thoughts or our perception of what our purpose is in life. God’s purpose or “intention or objective” (2) for us is always far greater than what we could ever imagine or conceive for ourselves or for others. His purpose for us includes His intentions and objectives for us and through us for our justice and the justice of others, and not just for our own individual selves (Amos 5:24).
Our “ways” (v. 8 & 9) or our “course, direction, or manner” (3), the ways we set for ourselves and others, is a way not as grand as God’s “ways” for us and through us. God’s “ways” for us and through us and for others are “higher” (v. 9) than those on the earth, i.e., “higher” or exalted, raised up to a great height, or upward (1) from our ways or manner (3). God’s “thoughts” or purpose for us and through us and for others is “higher,” and thus His “thoughts” are exalted purposes for us and others, “higher” than we as individuals could ever imagine or conceive.
You could definitely and without a doubt say as the song says that God lifts us higher than all the earth.
God Bless Everyone!
