6 Just as Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, [as conformity to God’s will and purpose – so it is with you also]. 7 So understand that it is the people who live by faith [with confidence in the power and goodness of God] who are [the true] sons of Abraham. 8 The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, proclaimed the good news [of the Savior] to Abraham in advance [with this promise] saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” 9 So then those who are people of faith [whether Jew or Gentile] are blessed and favored by God [and declared free of the guilt of sin and its penalty, and placed in right standing with Him] along with Abraham, the believer. Galatians 3:6-9 AMP (Amplified Bible)
Faith, like that of Abraham, is the believer’s cornerstone which unites us with Christ. As we demonstrate our faith in God we draw near to Him. Thus, like Abraham, our faith is demonstrated by our belief in God.
Our belief in God is our credit in Christ when our minds meditate on the truth of the Gospel. Our belief, our credit in Christ, factors in the transfer of the Holy Spirit to us where we have confidence of a bright future now and in eternity. Our belief is “credited to (us) as righteousness” (v. 6), i.e., we are “in right standing with Him” (v. 9).
We are the true “sons of Abraham” (v. 7) in Elohim, and as we believe in the “confidence (and) in the power and goodness of God” (v. 7).
Because of Christ our Savior, who is in the lineage of Abraham, since the time of Genesis, God’s origin of mankind, the Word of the Lord spoke to Abraham of the great reward to the nations, i.e., the reward of the resurrected Christ. (Genesis 15:1, 5 AMP; Hebrews 11:12-26 AMP Amplified Bible).
We all, Jew and Gentile, like Abraham, have been justified (v. 8) or have been given true justice from God as we are “declared of the guilt of sin and its penalty” (v. 9) when we are faithful, as Abraham, in our belief in Christ.
Like Abraham, we, as believers, are “blessed and favored by God” (v. 9) as we hold fast to our faith in Him. We are the people who live by faith!
