17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
In developing a relationship with the Lord God we learn of the thoughts God has of us. God’s thoughts for us are precious or prized and valuable. Thoughts such as how God loves us more than anything or anyone, and that we have a right to His salvation as we look to the “prosperity and success of Christ’s kingdom in the world” (Matthew Henry’s Commentary).
God gives great and many thoughts for the believer that sustains, nourishes, edifies, protects, and continually heals us in our daily walk with Him. With His leadership and guidance through prayer, humility, being a cheerful (prompt) giver, reading His word, and such as we learn to do from His word that even when we wake up in the morning His thoughts for us are always with us, all for our good.
Following Christ is all for our good as His thoughts counts us as precious in His sight.
